About This Scholarship
The award is established to honor the legacy of Ava Hecht ’09 by celebrating her creative gifts, joyful spirit, and thoughtful encouragement of her classmates. Ava was a talented visual artist, pianist and singer, as well as a gifted poet and writer.
Applicant Criteria
- Candidate must be a graduating senior from Stuyvesant High School.
- Candidate must have display merit in English.
- Candidate must have demonstrated a combination of creativity and generosity of spirit that Ava embodied.
The recipient will be selected annually by the Chair of the English Department.
