2026 ASPIRA/BSL Stepping Up Ceremony Recap & Photos
This past Sunday, Stuyvesant High School’s ASPIRA and Black Students League (BSL) communities gathered at the NEXUS Club for the annual ASPIRA/BSL Stepping Up Ceremony, honoring the accomplishments, leadership, and resilience of the Class of 2026.
The program featured inspiring student reflections and readings by ASPIRA and BSL leaders, including selections from Maya Angelou, Mario Benedetti, and Amanda Gorman. Graduating seniors were celebrated for their contributions to the Stuyvesant community and their commitment to uplifting others through leadership and service.
We were honored to welcome Principal Dr. Seung C. Yu, who offered remarks recognizing the achievements of the graduating students, and special guest speaker Carlos Williams ’05, who shared reflections and encouragement as students prepare for the next chapter of their journeys.
A highlight of the ceremony was the stole draping led by Angel Colon and Undine Guthrie, followed by the cherished “Stones of Inspiration” tradition, during which graduating seniors shared words of wisdom, gratitude, and hope with those who will follow in their footsteps. The ceremony concluded with acknowledgements from the Mosaic Parents Leadership Team and closing remarks from SHSAA Executive Director Diego Segalini ’98.
The Stuyvesant High School Alumni Association is proud to co-sponsor this annual celebration and support the outstanding work of ASPIRA and the Black Students League in fostering community, leadership, and belonging at Stuyvesant.
Congratulations to all of our 2026 ASPIRA and BSL graduates! We wish you continued success and look forward to seeing all that you accomplish in the years ahead.
