Hispanic Heritage Month Dinner – 2026

Overview

On October 22, 2026, all Stuyvesant students, staff, and alumni are invited to the annual Hispanic Heritage Month Dinner in the student cafeteria! There will be a program celebrating this year’s theme, Unidos Somos Más: Latinos in Sports “Somos Unidos por Deportes,” followed by a dinner reception. This event is free to attend, but you must register in advance. Those interested in attending must RSVP using this google form. The program will begin at 4:30 PM.

Andrea Castro ’17

Andre Castro ’17, a Colombian-American race car driver and University of Chicago graduate from New York City, has a diverse range of stock car, sports car and open-wheel experience. He made his IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge debut in the No. 98 Bryan Herta Autosport with Curb Agajanian Hyundai Elantra N TCR at the 2026 Daytona season opener, where he finished fourth in Touring Car (TCR). Castro has five career NASCAR O’Reilly Auto Parts Series starts, his most recent being on the Chicago Street Course in 2025. In open-wheel he’s raced in Skip Barber F2000, USF2000, F1600, Formula Ford, F4 U.S. and USF Juniors. He holds an economics degree and won the Team USA Scholarship in 2021, which allowed him to race abroad in the Formula Ford Festival, where he earned a third place finish. He currently leads the championship standings in the Hyundai N Trophy Cup on the strength of four wins.
