Paul started the Class of ’49 Fund with The Campaign for Stuyvesant in 1999 when he led their very successful 50th Anniversary Reunion, and he served as The Campaign’s Chairman from 2002-2012. Paul is Professor Emeritus of Mathematics at University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign. A noted algebraist and combinatorialist, he was the Mathematics consultant to the National Coordinating Center for Curriculum Development at SUNY-Stony Brook, funded by the Sloan Foundation. In 2002, he was Chairman and the keynote speaker at the “Private Funding for Public Education Conference” at Columbia University, organized and directed by The Campaign for Stuyvesant, in cooperation with Boston Latin and Central High School, Philadelphia. Paul received degrees from CCNY, NYU, and CalTech.
