The Richard B. Geller Memorial Scholarship

About This Scholarship

This award is established in memory of Richard B. Geller, a former Stuyvesant Faculty member in the Mathematics program. As was reported by the New York Times, “Geller could have retired a decade before he died, but he didn’t want to. He was a math teacher through and through.” The dedication to paving the way for Stuyvesant students in the field of math has enshrined Mr. Geller as an outstanding educator in the hearts of decades worth of Stuyvesant students. This memorial scholarship, then, seeks a candidate who is as passionate about this field as Mr. Geller was, and with their whole heart believes that Math is #1.

Applicant Criteria

  • Candidate must be a graduating senior from Stuyvesant High School.
  • Candidate must have excelled in Mathematics throughout their time at Stuyvesant.

The recipient will be selected annually by the Chair of the Mathematics Department.
