About This Scholarship
The scholarship was established to honor the memory of Narayan Ray by his son Beevash Ray ’97. Narayan Ray was an immigrant from India who came to the United States seeking greater opportunity for himself and his family. For him and his forefathers before him (from the area then known as Bengal) education and helping others were the most important aspects of living a dutiful life.
Each year, a single student will be selected to receive an award of $4,000 (payable in installments of $1,000/yr over 4 years) to defray expenses for education.
Applicant Criteria
- Candidate must be a graduating senior from Stuyvesant High School.
- Candidate must demonstrate financial need.
- Candidate must demonstrate academic excellence.
- Candidate must be interested in pursuing future studies and/or a career in STEM.
