OVERVIEW

Stuyvesant Alumni from all class years are invited to join author Yume Kitasei ’05 for a virtual book talk of her latest book, The Stardust Grail, on July 29, 2024. The discussion will be moderated by Annie Thoms ’93.

A Q&A will follow the discussion.

We are glad to extend this book talk opportunity to Stuyvesant alumni, students, and friends. The event will be held on Tuesday, October 8 at 7PM (ET) via Zoom. (Zoom Link to be provided upon RSVP.)

GUEST SPEAKER

Yume Kitasei ’05

Yume Kitasei ’05 is the author of The Deep Sky and The Stardust Grail. She is half Japanese and half American and grew up in a space between two cultures—the same space where her stories reside. She lives in Brooklyn with two cats, Boondoggle and Filibuster. Her stories have appeared in publications including New England Review, Catapult, SmokeLong Quarterly, and Baltimore Review.

Annie Thoms ’93

Annie Thoms ’93 graduated from Stuyvesant High School and has taught English there since 2000, with a few breaks to care for her three children and to work as a Teacher Consultant with the NYC Writing Project. At Stuyvesant, her courses have included Freshman Composition, American Short Stories, Writers’ Workshop, Women’s Voices, Writing in the World, and her current selective, Writing to Make Change. She is the editor of the play with their eyes: September 11th–the view from a high school at ground zero.
