Stuyvesant Alumni from all class years are invited to attend our February 2024 AI Panel where leading experts will discuss the current state of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and what they think the future will look like as AI continues to become part of our everyday world.

We are glad to extend this networking opportunity to Stuyvesant alumni, students, and friends. The event will be held on Thursday, February 8 at 6PM (ET) in-person at Stuyvesant High School. (The event will be recorded for later viewing.)

Those who attend will be able to hear from your fellow Stuyvesant alumni discuss their current role in technology and ask questions on their paths.

Light refreshments will be served.

Jamil Ellis ’95 is currently founder and CEO of Unified Ground, a NY-based startup focused on using technology to connect community-based organizations and small businesses to green investment opportunities. Jamil incorporates Artificial Intelligence not only in his role at Unified Ground but also in his creative endeavors. Before starting Unified Ground he was CTO of Bright Power and BlocPower, where he led teams developing technology solutions aimed at enhancing the energy efficiency of buildings.

Doug Kaminsky ’00, U. Penn School of Engineering and Applied Sciences – Class of 2004. 20 years experience, 15+ as a Software Engineer, 10 as an Engineering Manager (with some overlap). CV includes Bank of America, Facebook, Google; currently a Senior Engineering Manager at MadHive, an AdTech company that extends reach of traditional media to streaming ads.

Ben Lerner ’08 is the founder and CEO of Espresso AI. Espresso uses generative AI to optimize data warehouses and help users save money on Snowflake. Before Espresso, Ben worked on machine learning and performance optimization at Google.

Eugene Weinstein ’96 is an Engineering Director at Google, where he leads the Speech Recognition Infrastructure organization, consisting of 70+ researchers and engineers. In his role, Eugene is tasked with productionizing and launching state-of-the-art AI models to speech-enable products such as YouTube, Google Cloud, Android/Pixel, Bard, Assistant and numerous others. Eugene received the BS and MEng degrees from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and the PhD from New York University, all in Computer Science.

Mike Zamansky ’84 has been called the “Godfather of CS Education.” He is the architect of Stuyvesant’s highly regarded computer science program and during his over 2 decades running the program has taught and shepherded hundreds of Stuy grads into the tech industry. More recently, Mike has worked as a Distinguished Lecturer at Hunter College creating New York State’s first K-12 computer science teacher certification program which has, to date, prepared the states first hundred certified CS teachers. Mike was also a lead author on New York State’s Computer Science and Digital Literacy standards and is a mainstay in the local and national computer science education communities.
